The Executive Secretary (ES) of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Mr. Tony Ojukwu Esq, has been designated to be conferred with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) at its 149th Plenary Session which held on the 21st October 2021.

In a statement signed by the Acting Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court who is also the Secretary of the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee, Hajo Sarki Bello Esq, the rank of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, is awarded as a mark of excellence to members of the legal profession who have distinguished themselves as advocates and academics.

Mr. Ojukwu made it as an academic appointee, an evidence of his commitment to the fights for the rights of the people. It could be recalled that he is the first Executive Secretary to be appointed from within the Commission. He has carved a niche for himself following the numerous achievements recorded by the Commission during his tenure.

The official swearing in of the new silk shall come up in December, 2021 as contained in the LPPC’s press release.

The Governing Council, management and staff of the Commission wish to use this opportunity to say a big congratulations to the Executive Secretary for his well-deserved elevation.
