NHRC MONTHLY DASHBOARD PROVIDES OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS HUMAN RIGHT CHALLENGES-OJUKWU

The Executive Secretary of National Human Rights Commission NHRC Dr. Tony Ojukwu OFR, SAN has said that the Monthly dashboard on human rights which displays facts, statistics and analysis of human rights violations across board, provide stakeholders the opportunity of gaining insights into the human rights landscape in Nigeria, this will ensure collaborative efforts for addressing emerging challenges

In an address at the presentation of the April human rights assessment dashboard which took place in Abuja, the Executive Secretary noted that “The monthly dashboard on the state of human rights is borne out of the necessity by the Commission to monitor, investigate and report on human rights in real time on a national scale in line with its mandate.”

FG REAFFIRMS ITS COMMITMENT TO PROVIDE ENABLING ENVIRONMENT FOR HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTION IN NIGERIA

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to the promotion, protection and enforcement of human rights in Nigeria by providing the enabling environment for the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to effectively realize its mandate.

The Government also promised to support the NHRC to own its offices nationwide to further entrench its independence and strengthen its strive to protect the rights of citizens..

NHRC TASKS EBONYI COMMUNITIES AGAINST OSTRACIZATION

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has reiterated its commitment to ensure that any person or group who indulges in ostracization of any citizen despite warning by the Commission is punished in accordance with the law.

A member of the Special Investigation Panel on Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) Mr. Abdulrahman Yakubu who disclosed this recently while chairing the Panel in Ebonyi state on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Tony Ojukwu Esq. assured Nigerians that it will no longer be business as usual for the perpetrators of highly discriminatory acts.
