NHRC PRONOUNCES NAP AS A TRANSFORMATIVE POLICY DOCUMENT, HOLDS INTER-AGENCY CONSULTATIVE WORKSHOP

The Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Dr. Tony Ojukwu OFR, S A N has identified the National Action Plan (NAP) for the promotion and protection of human rights as a transformative policy document that deserve support of all stakeholders.

The NHRC Chief Executive Officer who stated this at Inter-Agency Consultative Workshop on the Implementation of the National Action Plan for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in Nigeria, noted that the NAP stands out as a comprehensive policy document that could be used to deepen human rights protection in Nigeria.

The federal government has urged the citizens and other stakeholders to collaborate and support the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) considering its crucial roles in laying the cornerstone of human rights protection in Nigeria.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) who made this statement at the official inauguration of the NHRC Office in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State observed that the Commission has not only championed the full enjoyment of human rights in the country but it has been working relentlessly to maintain an enviable human rights record at the global scene.

NHRC DEFENDS 2024 BUDGET, PROPOSES INCREASED ALLOCATION FOR 2025 TO TACKLE EMERGING HUMAN RIGHTS CHALLENGES

The Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has presented its 2024 budget performance and defended its proposed 2025 budget before the Joint Committees on Human Rights of the Senate and House of Representatives.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued an Advisory Opinion to the Federal Government urging it to ensure that the August 1, 2024 planned nationwide protests enjoys a peaceful atmosphere devoid of any form of human rights violations.
