Chairman of the Independent Investigative Panel on human rights violations by defunct SARS, Justice Suleiman Galadima rtd, on Wednesday commended the NHRC media team and members of the press.

Galadima noted with appreciation the high level professionalism exhibited by the Commission's media team and the external press covering the activities of the panel.

The retired justice who is heading the 11- man fact finding panel made particular reference to the commitment exhibited in diligently following up all matters before the panel and reporting same accurately.

Corroborating the commendation made by chairman of the panel, lead counsel to the police at the panel, James Idachaba Esq noted that the media team and the press had indeed lived up to expectations.

In his words, “these crop of the media team have been objective and fair in their reportage, unlike others".

It will be recalled that from inception of the panel during the last quarter of 2020, the 9 Member NHRC media headed by a Deputy Director in the department of coperate affairs and external linkages, Hajiya Fatima Agwai Mohammed have been steadfast in reporting activities of the panel accordingly.

The external press which comprises of online and newspaper publications, television and radio stations have also been balanced in reporting the panel's activities.

It is the hope that the commendation by the panelists will further spur the media to perform even better.
